Basics

  1. Write things down
  2. Communicate needs
  3. Manage resources better

In the beginning make a list.  Depending on the size and duration of the team, as well as the complexity of its task, establish a method to status activities.

Next prioritize and begin to communicate activates, priorities and desires.

For long term success, planning and managing the goals, objectives, progress, etc. becomes important.  For longer and more complex  projects, having written history and beginning process improvement becomes important.

Some teams / projects need objectives and resources locked down and changes managed early.  Others can wait.  Program managers of teams need to focus on this earlier than project managers.  So do Presidents of volunteer organizations with a number of independent committees.
